the idea behind...
I drew my inspiration from the back side of things.
Our usual focus in life lies on the surface of things, the front.
Only if we take a second glance, we are able to discover that the b-side/back side is often remarkably different
On the b-side the traces of time are apparent – structures emerge
I have looked around, turned objects over, peered behind things, and came to the conclusion that the real hit is sometimes not on the a-side, but on the b-side
One b-side that fascinated me the most, were backyards. It inspired the title of my collection: „rear window“, the look behind.
This lead me to one the key elements of my collection: „looking twice“
A lot of my creations are wearable in different ways or are reversable.
Another key element of my collection is the interpretation of b-side structures.
I tried to implement my attraction to morbid, broken walls and their structures, through fabric treatment, cut/patterns and prints.
for example, on one side you can see sewed on elatic bands
On the other side structures and pleats, created through gathering and drawstring casings.
The hand-printed designs also reflect the themes of my collection: the crashed wall and the view through the rear window
last but not least
The development of „Smart textiles“ is a topic which i´m fascinated in
since a long time, therfore i concentrate on using only
high grade „intelligent“ materials.
